The effect of shadow play on surrounding walls and ceiling is Maru’s hidden quality. The name Maru is found in both New Zealand Māori and Japanese languages, with reference to the cycle of life. pieces of CNC-cut bamboo plywood create a flowing structure that also casts magical patterns. It is lit from within with a row of LED pin-point lights.

Maru is the newest concept luminaire from our studio and is made from 60 identical components that clip together to create an elliptical form.
