The NJP series was designed by Oki Sato, founder of nendo design studio, with the intention of producing a new interpretation of the classic anglepoise lamp—with all its familiar details—in a contemporary design with functions adapted to modern working life at home and in the office.
The NJP Wall lamp’s flexible head and arms provide exceptional adjustability, which is often lacking in standard wall lights. This makes the light highly suitable for bedrooms, where adjustable beds are becoming increasingly common, and where it can be difficult to find the ideal position for a fixed wall light. It has been designed with an LED light source positioned high-up to avoid dazzling and unpleasant lighting.
One refined yet practical detail is the fixture's chimney-shaped head, which reflects some of the light through the rear. This illuminates the top of the arm while allowing the heat from the light source to escape. In 2022, Louis Poulsen introduces a new version of NJP Wall with a wall box that allows the lamp to be fitted directly on the power outlet. The wall box is designed by nendo and follows the same form as the base of the table and floor lamps— with a trapezoid that narrows from the front toward the wall. Combine NJP products for a streamlined, modern look.

Louis Poulsen
Copenhagen, Denmark
At the core of the brand’s philosophy is a focus on glare-free, layered illumination, developed through a scientific understanding of how light interacts with surfaces and space. This is exemplified in the iconic PH series, where carefully positioned shades direct and diffuse light to create a soft, comfortable glow. Rather than relying on excess or ornamentation, each design is driven by function, proportion, and the relationship between light and environment. With a legacy that spans nearly a century, Louis Poulsen continues to evolve through contemporary collaborations while maintaining its foundational principles.
