How to Choose Glam Pendants

Size and quantity
One pendant per 2 linear feet of island or counter works well. For a 6-foot island, three 8 to 10-inch pendants spaced evenly is the standard approach. For a dining table, a single large pendant spanning two-thirds the table length or a tight cluster of three smaller ones both work.
Set the drop length
Over a kitchen counter, hang the bottom of the pendant 28 to 36 inches above the surface. Over a dining table, 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop. In open spaces, keep at least 7 feet of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the fixture.
Match the finish
Gold and polished brass pendants suit warm interiors with wood tones and cream or ivory walls. Chrome and polished nickel read cleaner in cooler, more contemporary spaces. Pick the finish that already appears in your kitchen or dining room hardware.
Cluster for drama
