How to Choose Industrial Pendants

Size it to the space
A single pendant over a kitchen island should measure roughly one-third the island length. For dining tables, aim for one large pendant or a cluster of smaller ones spanning two-thirds the table width. In general, one 8-10 inch pendant per 2 linear feet of counter or table works well.
Set the drop length
Over a kitchen counter or island, hang the bottom of the pendant 28 to 36 inches above the surface. Over a dining table, 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop. In open spaces with no furniture below, keep the bottom at least 7 feet from the floor. Most industrial pendants include adjustable cord or rod so you can dial in the exact height.
Match the finish to the room
Matte black reads strongest against white walls, concrete, and light wood. Aged bronze and brushed steel work in warmer, earthier palettes. If your kitchen hardware or plumbing fixtures are already in a specific finish, carry that finish into your pendant selection for a cohesive look.
