How to Choose Lighting Accessories

Lighting accessories are the small details that make a big difference. From replacement shades and decorative bulbs to chain extensions, mounting hardware, and lamp finials, the right accessories let you customize, repair, and refresh your fixtures without replacing them entirely.

Shades & diffusers
Replacing a shade is the fastest way to update a fixture's look. Match the shade fitter size (usually listed on the original shade or in the fixture specs) and choose a material that suits your desired light quality — linen for warmth, glass for clarity, metal for direction.
Decorative bulbs
Visible bulbs are part of the design. Edison-style filament LEDs add vintage warmth. Globe bulbs suit mid-century fixtures. Candelabra LEDs complete chandelier and sconce designs. Choose bulbs that match both the socket type and aesthetic.
Chain & rod extensions
Need extra hanging length? Chain and stem extensions in matching finishes let you drop chandeliers, pendants, and lanterns to the perfect height for high ceilings and stairwells.
Mounting & hardware
Sloped ceiling adapters, swivel canopies, junction box covers, and crossbar brackets ensure your fixture installs securely and looks clean, regardless of ceiling conditions.
Common questions
Accessories FAQ
How do I find the right replacement shade?
Check the fitter type (slip-on, screw-on, or clip-on) and fitter diameter listed in your fixture's specifications. Measure the opening where the shade attaches and match it to replacement shade specs. Our team can help identify compatible shades.
What bulb base types are most common?
E26 (medium) is the standard North American base for most fixtures. E12 (candelabra) is used in chandeliers and sconces. GU10 is common in track and recessed lighting. Check your fixture's socket type before ordering bulbs.
Do you sell extra chain for chandeliers?
Yes, we carry chain extensions in various finishes and link sizes to match popular chandelier collections. Specify your fixture brand and finish when ordering for the closest match.
Can I convert a hardwired fixture to plug-in?
In many cases, a licensed electrician can add a cord and plug to a hardwired fixture. However, it may void the UL listing. Plug-in conversion kits are available for some fixture types.
What accessory brands do you carry?
We carry accessories from most of the lighting brands we stock, including Visual Comfort, Hudson Valley, Hinkley, and others. Contact our team to find the right match for your fixture.
Do accessories ship free?
Yes, free standard shipping on all orders over $199 across Canada. Smaller accessory orders under $199 ship at a flat rate.
