Over a dining table, hang the bottom 30 to 36 inches above the surface for an 8-foot ceiling, adding about 3 inches per additional foot. Over a kitchen counter, 28 to 34 inches. In walkways, keep at least 7 feet of clearance.

What is a schoolhouse pendant?

A schoolhouse pendant uses a rounded opal or seeded glass globe on a simple metal fitting — a form drawn from early 20th-century institutional lighting. It’s a versatile traditional fixture that suits kitchens, hallways, and bathrooms.

What is seeded glass?
