Arne Jacobsen Clocks

Denmark

Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was one of the most influential Danish architects and designers of the 20th century, and a master of total design who shaped everything from the building to the clock on the wall. He designed his best-known clocks for landmark Danish buildings: Roman for Aarhus City Hall in 1942, City Hall for Rødovre Town Hall in 1956 and Bankers for Danmarks Nationalbank in 1971. In 2009 Rosendahl acquired the rights to these designs and, working with Teit Weylandt, who directed product development at Jacobsen's studio for many years, recreated them from the original drawings. Arne Jacobsen Clocks is part of Rosendahl Design Group, and Montreal Lighting & Hardware carries a curated selection of its wall clocks, table clocks and weather instruments for Canadian homes.

The collection covers five clock faces from across Jacobsen's career: the Station clock from the 1940s, the Roman face, the minimalist City Hall, the Bankers face with its bar of hour markers, and the LK table clock. The wall clocks pair aluminium cases with mineral glass lenses, and the table clocks add an alarm and a light. The Bankers face also appears on a hygrometer, barometer and thermometer. From the kitchen wall to the bedside table, the clocks bring a piece of Danish modernist architecture into your home.
